Kaufman County Emergency Services District #6 (ESD #6) is an independent governmental entity overseen by a five-member Board of Commissioners. Each commissioner is appointed by the Kaufman County Commissioners and serves a two-year term.

To provide fire protection and emergency response, ESD #6 partners with the Forney Fire Department, which handles fire calls, vehicle accidents, ranch-related incidents, and other emergencies. The district also works closely with the Forney 911 system to ensure rapid response during medical emergencies.

Established in 2001 by voter approval, ESD #6 serves residents in the unincorporated areas outside Forney. It is funded through property taxes, just as city residents fund their emergency services. Before its creation, rural families in Kaufman County relied on a small volunteer fire department for protection.
